I wanted to make sure that as a mom, I knew how to properly care for my daughter’s hair and that meant I had to experiment on myself first.

YBN: What made you transition into becoming natural?

CC: After seeing several curly-haired models in magazines, I began to wonder what my natural hair texture would look like.  I went back and forth with the idea for a while but it was during my first pregnancy when I found out I was having a girl that I decided to go for it.  I wanted to make sure that as a mom, I knew how to properly care for my daughter’s hair and that meant I had to experiment on myself first.

YBN: After entering your natural hair journey, what made you decide to take it a step further and begin vlogging about natural hair?

CC: Well, like most naturalista's, I began documenting my hair journey on Instagram.  As my audience began to grow, I received a lot of requests to start a YouTube channel.  I was hesitant for a while but eventually gave in due to my own curiosity.  I’m really happy I did because I’ve experienced so much growth on a personal and professional level because of it.

YBN: How do you maintain healthy hair while managing a busy schedule?

CC: A consistent regimen and doing low manipulation styling is vital to the h ealth of my hair.  I’ve had a lot of practice so I know what my hair does and does not like.  Any style that requires restyling more than twice a week is a no-go for me.

YBN: What are some of your must have natural hair products?

CC: Obia Natural Hair Care Babassu deep conditioner, As I Am coconut co-wash, Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner, Koils by Nature Moisturizing Shealoe Leave In , Aphogee 2min Keratin Reconstructor.

YBN: Are there any "no, no's" you have when it comes to your hair?

CC: No sleeping without a satin bonnet or satin pillowcase!

YBN: What does being natural mean to you and what is the best part of experiencing this journey?

CC: Being natural has honestly given me the freedom to be myself and accepting all of my flaws.  I’ve really enjoyed being a part of this community of natural women and have made some really awesome (virtual) friendships.
